  1. Reporting Bugs in Mac BibTeX

  4. Please send me (<mailto:vince@das.harvard.edu>) details of:

  6.     • Machine type (PPC/68k).
  7.     • System (7/7.1/7.5/7.5.3/…).
  8.     • Circumstances of the bug.
  9.  
  10. Also please try repeating the bug after restarting your machine with 
  11. extensions off (hold down shift during restart).  If this resolves your 
  12. problem then you have an extension conflict.  You'll have to work out which 
  13. extension/control panel doesn't like BibTeX and remove it or upgrade to a 
  14. newer version.

  16. There are known cosmetic bugs in which the log window is not cleared 
  17. correctly, or scrolled back to the top correctly.  At least some of these
  18. seem to be inadequacies/'features' of the Powerplant class I'm using,
  19. which is v. annoying.  I'll gradually make it work perfectly, but it's
  20. not a high priority.  So please only report peculiar bugs in that category.

  26. Reporting Bugs when command clicking to Alpha

  29. If command-clicking switches you to Alpha, but what happened subsequently 
  30. seems wrong, do the following: switch to Alpha, hit cmd-Y, hit shift-cmd-Z,
  31. select 'GURLHandler' from the list which appears, switch back to BibTeX, 
  32. repeat the problematic cmd-click, switch to Alpha, hit cmd-Y, hit 
  33. shift-cmd-D, and mail me the trace-dump which should appear in a new window 
  34. at that point.  Also copy the errant text out of BibTeX's log window, and 
  35. send that to me.  If no trace-dump window appears, the problem is on the 
  36. BibTeX/Appleevent end of things, and in that case just send me the text 
  37. which caused the problems.

  42. If you are dumped into MacsBug, please grab a stack trace.  You
  43. can do this by typing:
  44.     LOG bibcrashlog
  45.     sc6
  46.     HOW
  47.     STAT
  48. Then send me the file 'bibcrashlog' which will appear on your
  49. desktop.  Many thanks; it'll help me to track down and fix the bug.
